1/8 saluki

if a dog had 1/8 saluki in its makeup would you think it would make a difference to feet, stamina, coat etc the rest of the make up is whippit greyhound, thanks for any info

?????? your guess as good as mine mate, it all depends on if the DAM or SIRE was the one with the saluki in there make up and how strong the saluki genes was in the dog,

thought maybe someone might have or no of this cross, the sire is saluki,whip , grey, which looks like it has saluki, and certainly runs like it stamina wise, the dam was a coursing grey

it will have better feet than greyhound or whippet.

ive seen this x a few times, a lad from this end has a 1/8 saluki 1/8 bull 6/8 grey and you coulden't tell she had saluki in her yet years ago i had a dog of this breeding except it was 1/8 collie not bull and the saluki come through in him,

its 1/8 saulk 1/8 collie rest greyhound just type in hare coursing luchers should come up there loads

My pup works out at 3/16 saluki so a bit more than 1/8 but it is very visible. Lots of feathering, Saluki tail and ears and also a few traits of saluki temperament.

 

Both parents had a bit of saluki in them.

i think really a 1/8 wouldnt make alot of differnce in any x of any breed to gain anything. You need atleast 1/4 = 2/8 to make any differnce, a 1/4 bull or collie or............ is quite a strong gene. But i think if you put 3/8 in any x you will be on a winner, as you(know) it is definitely there.

cheers iceman, found it on utube, the dog is actually the same way bred as i was asking 1/8 sal 1/8whip 3/4 hound, and the vid has more than answered my question 1/8 saluki is enough genes certainly in that dog, killing hares after 4 1/2 min course
