millsy44 72
Now then boys and girls, as the title says im going to have a bash at making myself a Ghillie suit, as the cheapest ive found is £50+ i reckon i can buy materials and make my own for less than £20 Planning on using a pair of green overalls 2 sizes larger than my normal, And im planning on putting hessian pockets on the knees and elbows into which i can insert padding for when crawling, If any body has any tips dont be shy in saying, ill take all info in and consider it, ill keep you updated with photos of all stages of the make Quote Link to post

redeye jedi 39
if you stitch some loops of elastic all over it you can add some local follage to enhace the hessian. dont forget to add some black to the suit as there are always shadows in nature. ATB REDEYE Quote Link to post

It can only help tho, otherwise cammo makers wouldnt have there millions in the bank every year, i never go over board with my cammo, look at this as a little "dark night" project lol something to do for a few nights when theres naff all on the t.v and the weathers shite, ill probs wear it a few times then whack in on e-bay see what it fetches and if i make a few quid ill make another and do the same Fieldcraft involves steath aswell i think, so theres no harm in making one lol cheers for the input though bud Quote Link to post
mikeyblue 28
Hi Millsy, Im halfway through such a project myself. I have finished the head piece. I did this by taking a DPM jungle hat and stitching some garden netting over it. If I did it again I would use a glue gun as it takes fecking ages as Im shite at sewing. I bought some jute string and olive green dye from Wilkos. Dyed some differing length strips of jute two shades of green and tyed them onto the netting with some natural jute to mix it up a bit. The end result! Im happy with it. Cost me about 9 quid and a few hours in front of the tv tying the jute on. You can buy them on a well known auction site cheap enough now, but Ive always fancied trying to make one myself, and it will match my permissions perfectly! Next job to start on an old jacket! Hope this helps, Mikey. Edited December 28, 2010 by mikeyblue Quote Link to post
