scotty2306 37
well fella i personally wouldn't put a full grey over her..i,ve seen 1 breeding of a 1st cross bull x bitch put to a grey dog that was pulling all quarry and not 1 pup out of the litter of 8 worked..the bitch and grey dog were two superb dogs but the cross just doesn't seem to click like the bull x over the grey bitch..i'd put a saluki x over her or else a 3/4 grey x 1/4 bull ideally id put a collie grey x saluki grey over her making pups bull/grey x saluki/collie/grey thats the cross i wanted but couldnt find any of that breeding so i went for saluki/bull/grey the collie would make them better imo I cant stand collie sorry !!!!!!!!! anything that does what you want, does it matter whats in it so long as it does the job.another half bull if there as good as you say, just cos the bitch is good dont mean the pups will be 1 Quote Link to post
lurcherman 28
3/8 x 5/8 or 1/4 bull x over her just do your homework take your time and see the " sire " you intend to use doing his job it may take longer than you think and may mean alot of traveling and when you chose a suitable stud maybe fee's but its a small price to pay if you can better the % of a very good litter, ( p.s make sure the pups have homes before the breeding ) Quote Link to post

ReggieCuz 18
from my experience I'd put a pure greyhound over it. O, a proven 3/8bull, 5/8 grey. But, if it were my bitch I'd put a good grey over her. Here's mine from same breeding, fast, hard but needed a rest between hunts. Quote Link to post

billy bronk 76
put 1 of your mates champion bred saluki lurchers over her,get the speed and the stamina, alot of people are running this breed saluki/bull/greyhound I have been offered to do this breeding many times but what puts me off is that these lads do not really know what is in there dogs! they say there is this and that but to be honest how do they know this if they did not breed them themselves and just took the word of the person who they bought them off ! Dont get me wrong I like worker to worker breeding and have seen some crackers come off of this way of breeding but I also seen some donkeys bred this way ! I think that way of breeding works best for pure breeds as for there would not be the same risk of throw backs . if its a pure bred your after try a full saluki, theres plenty of working pure salukis about, half saluki 1/4 greyhound 1/4 bull thats what the pups would be,good alrounders on all quarry seen a few of this breeding run,but theres good and bad in any breed.eirther way atb finding the right stud Quote Link to post
ReggieCuz 18
here's another one of mine, but this time it's a 3/8 bull 5/8 grey over another 3/8 bull 5/8 grey, if memory serves? Good dog but got killed by a 70 kilo boar, bad considering he's dealt with many 100 kilo boars before the one who got him. Quote Link to post

SHanded. . 110
Find a dog DOING exactly what you want. . NOT what it should be doing. . If your happy with your bitch, then find a Stud doing what you expect your pups to do. . All the best SHanded. . 1 Quote Link to post
