I'll try to get a couple of pics up in the next few days, edited to say...... this is for two lurchers, 1 is 25" the other 24", cheers Edited January 10, 2007 by Vermin Dropper Quote Link to post
Guest JDF
this is my own work in progress,it still needs a roof.12x8 one of side panels also has a door so it can be split if nessecary, always prefered kennels to sheds myself. Quote Link to post

Alright fella, Firstly when I put the shed up I put pollystyrene boards under the floor in between the battons. on the walls inside I used "Rockwool" cavity insulation in between the battons then lined it with plywood, do the same on the door and your away. for the run I've used 12'X6' "Harris" fence panels (building site panels), a whole one for each side and a cut down one for the front, build a timber frame around it, make a gate to fit, board and felt the roof, and pop the dogs in. taken me about a day and a half so far, probably another half day to put the trims on etc and run some electric to it for lighting. Vermin Dropper 2
in that case I don't know what you would use, I would think any insulation material would be very bad to ingest. unless you used metal coated sandwich panels.......which would cost you a fortune Quote Link to post
Vermin Dropper 2
No Mate, they have been in a shed and run as long as I've had them and have shown no signs of chewing at it, so I see no reason why they would start now, I will of course keep an eye on it as I would hope anyone would and if there are any signs of gnawing I'll address it. Rainmaker 7
I got a mate round (cheers Gnipper!) and we just made a two sided frame out of 2x2" rough sawn timber, which is attached to the back corner of our yard's fencing. That gives two 6' x 6' fence panels as the back and one side of the kennel/run, and two 6x6' panels made from the 2x2" frame to provide the other side and front with gate. Then I got a roll of 2x2" 16g galv mesh from www.meshdirect.co.uk for just over a tenner, and Bob's your mother's brother. Total cost for the 6x6x6 high run was just over £25 including the two packs of weather board I used to panel half the height of one side of the frame, and the bottom 1/4 of the front (excluding the gate obviously). Rough and ready for sure, but after sticking a plastic barrel in and filling it with clothes, the terrier's as happy as a pig in the proverbial, and it just looks like part of the garden unless you're staring in the gate. The lurcher will join her when he's old enough. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. Quote Link to post
