Guest Ditch_Shitter
Just my opinion mate ~ and that of a good many others here, if ye look under the Dog Health Board ~ but I wouldn't dream of touching Any of that stuff. Why - when proper Dog food's so freely available? Flesh and bones. Go have a good read Quote Link to post

craig 0
If you google BARF ( bones and raw feeding) should get enough info from there, good luck with it, if you try it , it can work REALLY well or the dogs can turn there nose up after a few days on it Quote Link to post

bill88 6
Not saying anybody is right or wrong, but after doing some research on this matter, this is what i learn't.A dog being a canine, same as a wolf. After making a kill, the first part of the prey that is eaten is the innard's,stomach, intestine's,liver, etc,(high nutrition and easily digested). Now,most of the prey they kill is likely to be herbivore (vegetarian) so,a large percentage of there meal will be vegetable matter (grass, leave's etc).If we really want to feed our dog's a natural diet, then surely it must contain a percentage of vegetable matter.I feed my patt, lurcher, and ferret's,on jwb, mixed with butcher's tripe mix,or cheap off cut's from the butcher's.Twice a week i will give them raw ,either from the butcher's or what they've caught. Now,if i had the time,i would mix my own feed.An old mate of my dad's that bred russel's when i was a kid, alway's mixed his own feed.He used rice, barley, mixed veg,and whatever meat off cut's and carcass he could get cheap from the meat market. He would spend an entire day mixing and boiling all this stuff, and his dog's were in fantastic condition, but hey! with work and kid's how many of us would be able to do the same?horse's for course's,if someone could convince me my animal's were missing out then,i would feed them differently. What's the point in going to the trouble to get raw meat and carcasses to end up boiling it?? Is that not defeating the purpose?? I feed my terriers on raw meat with a handful of dry thrown in for a bit of bite, i have 2 pups that are 5 mnths old and are super healthy. My 2 older dogs get the same and their energy levels are excellent. And they're always fit and healthy. Quote Link to post
Pignut 4
I don't buy dog meat. My lot (lurcher and patt) get leftovers (no processed food in our house), raw mince and veg stalks or grated apple, or carrot. Sometimes a tin of pilchards or sardines. Sometimes boiled fish (depends what is lurking at the bottom of the freezer that needs eating). They seem ok on that. Happy and healthy and fit. If they are getting fat, less carbs and more veg. Pignut. Quote Link to post
