wiganer 0
Does anyone stop their ferret water bottles from freezing up and if so how? Our cages are outdoors but in a covered area. We are defrosting 3 times a day in this weather. We not fussed about doing it but just wanted to know if anyone has a fix for the issue. Chris. Quote Link to post
John-B 4
just change them as often as you can mate, I have 2 water bottles and keep rotating them every few hours, when i'm at work my wife changes them for me, if that's not possible you could try a small heavy bowl of water and they will lick the ice to get some water. Guest crobinc840
Someone said to put a bit of gelatin in it, I believe it was tomo. I keep mine indoors so don't have to worry about it. There are also water bottle covers on ebay. Quote Link to post
andy mecca 5
old pair of woolly gloves cut a nick in middle finger and slip over bottle, just leave very tip of lance sticking out Quote Link to post
ferretracer 24
i use 3 bottles on my court i got told to use honey, so put 300ml of boiling water in jug and mix in about a 2 teaspoons of clear honey until well dissolved, leave it cool before mixing in the waterbottles otherwise the bottles get deformed as they cant take the heat(as i found out, i did a mix of 100ml honey water to a 500ml bottle, seems to be working the nozzles still freeze but take longer Quote Link to post

Big Mat 0
I attatched an old ice cream tub ( one of them short ones expenwsive ice cream comes in ) to the wire of my cage so they cant knock it over, easier to fill that up and just pull the ice out and refill every day.
