Recommended Posts

Getting myself a lamp and battery at some point this week. Going to get lightforce striker 170 and lithium battery.

First of all : Whats your opinions on the variable, do you think its worth the extra £45

And i was going to get the 10Ah bettery but found the 14Ah for an extra £20, do you think its worth paying for the 14Ah?

Cheers

as far as lamps go a would say just the normal ,as for battery go for 14 amp ,can i ask the over all price is mate and were about you getting it from

Quite a few people seem to think i may aswell get the normal lamp

The prices will help anyone else looking for a lamp so cheapest prices ive found is:

The standard striker lamp is from optics warehouse £75

The variable striker lamp is from optics warehouse £120

Ianhodge fieldsports says there variable lamp is only £95 but then tries to charge £140 on checkout

The 10Ah battery is from ferretboxes.com for £140

or the 14Ah is advertised on here for £160

So for the standard lamp and 14Ah battery it will be £235

I know what you mean, I am tempted to get the best then ill not regret not getting it, but at the minute the smallest battery and standard lamp is enough but you never know what the future holds. Ive only been lamping with mates who have got standard lamps with the old batteries, so wanted to know peoples opinions on the variables. So far people seem to think the standard lamp is good enough and the variable only makes much difference for foxes?

I always believed the cheapest way for your battery mate was to buy it seperately ,i picked up a

17ah sealed battery for £35 from a local distributor ,its perfect for the striker ,not overly heavy

and lasts long enough for a decent nights lamping ,i remember 20 yrs ago running with 24ah golf trolley

batteries ,great for the job but by god you,d some bruises next day ,good luck mate ,hope you get it sorted .

can you buy just the variable wiring and then buy battery seperately? i use 2 12v 7amp beltpack battery made by clulite not light but 12£ each and enough for a nights lamping.wouldnnt mind putting in the variable or making a red filter hinge i think it really helps to have a slightly dimmer light potion when lamping certain things
