supersam 64
Hiya Ive often thought the same thing, i think an irish terrier would make a nice cross with a whippet, but you never see them. When i was a kid there was a lady that walked one over our local country park and that was always taking rabbits, i really wanted that dog. I think in the end she stopped taking it over there because it kept bringing her back dead rabbits lol. Always wondered if they would be any good having a straight one to work cover, but thats an expensive experiment. Got myself a greyhound, beddy x whippet instead. she is nearly 4 months now, will put up pics on here as soon as i can sort out some good pics. Neil. my grandad had an irish terrier that would mark, and catch bolted rabbits.in them days the rabbits were for the pot. was a bitch he had that would walk to heal in heavy traffic around the city. from what he has told me she put food on the table,in the 30ies when they had no food at dinner time alot of the times.something we take for granted now!i wonder how many would run a bullx if there daily food was decided in what the dog caught.how things have changed for some eh. Tassa 64
Good cross to have but the can't see how there is many irish terrier bred lurchers out there when if truth be told there is so few working irish terrier's about. Saying that a there is a dog that hunts with us that has irish terrier in him and hes a super animal. He marks foxes to ground and works bogs and cover like a hound, he's a very smart animal.
