Gerry48 10
Heard on the news tonight another person killed by a dangerous dog, i have owned dogs on and off fore 50 years, and i have never come across a dangerous dog, only dangerous owners. you get a--holes who get these dogs and they think they are hard cases, but they could not train a dog to save there lives, they wind the dogs up that much that there brains are cabbaged, but unfortunately the dogs are f--ked, and they are put down through no fault of there own, sorry about this rant, but i feel very strongly about this. oxo 441
Plenty of dangerous dogs around just some people do not have the sense or balls to do the right thing, some dogs are just bad regardless of the owner and if you have a dog that will attack a person like it would attack another dog you have a big f*****g problem.

Any dog over 50lb , if it really wanted to could do massive damage or kill . If you need a guard or watch dog a mongrel or if you need a big dog a GSD will do the job. At least with these type of dogs you can control them, and as above if dog is bad you are in trouble anyway There are some breeds of dogs that should (never) be in the hands of (joe-public) and untill that day happens , you will keep hearing about post like this fact
oxo 441
Have a pal whose Stafford set about him, pulled him to the ground and would have made a right mess of his face at the very least but he had a helmet on! (just came in off his scooter) made a real mess of his hands and he is a big kid. He thinks the dog would have killed him but for the helmet, 40lb or 150lb if they go your in trouble, just like a .22 or .308 there both going to kill you just one will make a bigger hole. WILF 46,680
Pretty much agree with all the above posts, but to keep things in perspective (because the media wont) there are probably more people killed by horses every year.

IMO its ALWAYS the owner NEVER the dog that causes the problem (no such thing as a bad dog). I will agree that there are dogs that have a tendency towards dominance or nervousness which can lead to aggression this has either been bred into them or is caused by bad management of the dog (again not the dogs fault) but anyone owns these breeds or any trainer worth there salt should be able to control them I'm speaking from personal experience as I take out my my brothers dog which is a bull type breed which is aggressive due to nervousness causes by bad management [bANNED TEXT] we got her and partly due to no one in his house taking charge with the dog. I can control her on and off lead on a walk with my other dogs and i have no problems but with my brother its dragging him up and down the street trying to attack other dogs i know this is only one situation but i firmly believe that there is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners heres a pic of the bitch with my old lurcher

Gerry48 10
totally agree mate, like i said in my original post its all down to training, and i would say 50 percent of these so called owners haven't got a clue how to train there dogs, the dogs take over and become the leader of the pack, thy then attack becous thy have become the dominant one. judge2010 196
its upto the person to decide what dogs to have, if i was going to have another guard dog the GSD would not even be in my top five.

How often do you hear of big dogs such as rotweilers or even st. bernards attacking people or killing them rarely, no it's always pitbulls or badly bred staffs with bad owners! And I own a lab and a jack russell so I'm not being biast
cocpops 19
There is a need for some new laws here! If your dog attacks and kills a human then there should be a mandatory prison sentence. If it attacks n seriously injures then fine/possible prison sentence. Dog destroyed in all cases. Along with introduction of mandatory dog training classes for certain breeds. The cost of which along with these new laws would hopefully dissuade the bad elements from keeping them in the first place. How many times do we read in the paper of children , a baby or even owners being ravaged and killed by sweet natured gentle as a butterfly homeloving fighting dogs. You know the Breeds. The public need protected, from the element that use them as a |I`m tougher than you look at my! BIG ANGRY DOG! element. They need educating and training before being allowed anywhere near these breeds. Edited December 26, 2010 by cocpops
