speedystu 0
Good afternoon all! i have been shooting for approx 10 years mainly rabbits/fox and feather, and have also been very lucky to attend a fallow cull a few time's on a large estate near me at the mo i am using a tikka t3 laminate 223 (not for deer) but have used a friends blaser with him on a few outings! and is a very nice rifle in 308. I now have come to the point where i wpuld like to branch out into the stalking world more and have started to look for a new rifle to add to the fac! I do understand that it is "better" to have DSC1 status! But i am not wanting to do this as i wwould like to be mentored ;) So to cut a very long story short! Q1: what would be an ideal first 243! for approx £600 ish Q2: Would anyone in the wiltshire area be willing to teach a newish dog new tricks Not sure if this is alittle much to ask but hey if you don't ask you don't get. Many Thanks ss Quote Link to post
firthy 54
Hi ya mate i was once told that the most important thing to have was a good optic and mounts and the rifle was amatter of how much you wanted to spend. I was also told that a tikka t3 was a good reliable gun for it money. I would recommend trying to find one with a detachable mag for sure. If your not up for cleaning your rifle everytime you go out then go for one thats synthetic. Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
Remingtons are a great rifle to start with matey. Not too expensive either. And don't worry about DSC1 as you do not need it to get an FAC, it is not a legal requirement. You live in a good area with plenty of deer. Good luck. Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
Tikka T3 is a very accurate factory rifle. I have put quite a few people on to buying this rifle and they all love it. I know I love mine. Plenty deer in Wiltshire , good luck with your venture whichever you choose .... Tikka T3 and Wiltshire roe courtesy of my good mate FD ..... Quote Link to post
