yea am tempted to get a hob and just get it done. Only thing is i dont want to loose him and then al be back to square one but i guess that is a risk i will have to take lol. They will be fine to keep together all year round i am thinking?

 

Cheers people for your help it has cleared this up for me and i think i may go to the vets and find out what things will cost me.

 

Ohh one last thing if i do get the hobb done, it doesnt change their behavouir does it like make them more aggressive ect?

You boys would be better of on a pet ferret forum talking your crap.

Ferrets do not die just because you don't mate them.

They are more likely to die if you don't keep them clean when they are in a weakened condition, (in season) if you don't know what that means,read a bloody book.

There are to many unwanted ferrets because of dick heads listening to old wives tales. Happy Xmas P1

i think the examples given were about bringing a jill out of season. not about jills that die because they are left in season.and yes icertainly agree about paying attention to keeping everything clean if you are going to leave it in season. left in season they are more vulnerable to infection and im sure even all us who should be on a pet forum knows were they can get a infection. i prefer to get the jills jabbed rather than leave them in season.

What is your problem? Is it a bad thing that people would like to know things that they have heard, so they dont harm their ferrets? As for in season i do know what that means. If you have nothing constructive to post then why bother to post?

 

In my eyes this forum is here to help people and not for dick heads as you quote. If you hear something that somebody has told you then isnt it better to ask other people and get their advise aswell?

i will try to explain a little bit better.some people will have had jills who havent been bred from or brought out of season and will say they had no problems.you may read when a jill is in season the levels of oestrogen[female sex hormone] will build up which can be potentially fatal my vet says this correct.if a jill is left in season her vagina to be polite will stay swollen for several months therefore she could be at risk from infection. so why not bring them out season either by a jill jab or by using a vasectomized hob. me personally would take a vets advice everyday of the week. keep asking questions im sure genuine people will answer you knowbody knows it all.

oh and by the way i had lurchers for 20 years and i have had ferrets for 12 years and they were all worked . a animals welfare should always be a top priorty.

sorry about the above posts ithought i was on the pets at home forum. im going to go downstairs now and put my bedlington terrier on my lap watch a ferreting dvd to see how it is done give him a little kiss and say good boy. i checked on the ferrets earlier and they still had their wooly jumpers on.
