A quick hour out

Recommended Posts

Well since i had a half day in work today, decided to go round to a farm 2 mins drive from my house. Popped in on my way home to make sure it was ok then went home to get ready. Farmer said his brother might be coming up to shoot so looks like im not the only one shooting there.

Got home, got ready, filled up the S410 and went to check zero, zero was fine but because i have been practicing with the Prosport, i was to heavy on the trigger a few times and pulled it before i meant to, but soon got used to it.

Headed to the farm, spotted a crow but it was behind a pipe, wound the window down on the car and waited but it flew away after about a minute. Got out of the car and seen a magpie on top of a wall, about 30 yards so crosshairs on head, one magpie down. Went round to the cow sheds, loads of crows but was spotted and they were offski. Then looked onto a barn roof, were there was about 8 ferals sitting there. I leaned on a bit of pipe running down the corner of another shed but didnt realise it was loose, it made too much noise and they were away :whistling: Then spotted another ontop of the shed i was leaning on, moved to a better position but over estimated distance and pellet went right over its head!! :wallbash:

Spotted another maggie in a tree so hid behind a parked van, was about 40 yards, couldnt see the head very well so went for a heart shot, dropped it straight down :D There were quite a few ferals in the cow shed but im not sure if the farmer wants me in them, and he wasnt around for me to ask them so i left them. I did scare them out of the shed in hope they would sit on a roof and give me a chance to take a shot but they disappeared. Spotted a crow on a wire about 50 yards away, managed to sneak round one of the barns, hide behind a pile of tyres, took up the first stage of the trigger, and it flew away!! :wallbash:

There is a sitty tree were a lot of crows came to and from but by this point i had spooked them too much for me to get anywhere near it. Found a few bits inside barns where im going to ask the farmer if i can hide in and decoy the crows in next time i see him. Had another walk about then put everything back in the car. Went back into the barn without the gun to look at where would be best to set a hide up, and at the other side of the barn i could see a crow with its back turned to me, typical, no gun but perfect chance.

Anyway headed up the road, got out the car, and spotted a squizzer about 20 yards away in a tree, so needless to say the squizzer got it, not a bad end to a quick hunt

Cheers mate. Aw mate i love the prosport, only shot it on targets so far. Got one of they resettable targets, can hit the small kill zone about 7/10 times at 30 yards and was tryin the full size kill zone at 40 yards today and was doin about the same. That was rested off a bag with a pillow in it though, bit more practice before i take it hunting.
