pianoman 3,587
First of all congratulations on buying a magnificent rifle Robert. What have you; .177 or .22? As for the Hawke Panorama EV 3-9x40. I don't have that particular model but other Hawke models I do have seem to combine well with the TX200. Should be fine Robert mate ATB Simon Quote Link to post

Buster321c 1,010
Dont clean the barrel unless it sprays pellets all over the place . And certainly dont put oil down it My advise would be , keep the outsides clean and dry , and dont worry about the insides . Get used to it , and just enjoy shooting it before you start messing with it Quote Link to post
HEAD SHOT 1
its a 2.2 mate cant wait to get it out, my lass got me a gun cleaning kit,if i clean the barrel do i need to oil it neva had myown gunn before bit ov a novice Get fag filters/tobacco filter with a bit of oil on and just shoot it like a pellet, thats enough for the Barrel. Listen for rattles and be sure to check all screws/stock screws and under lever are tight. Enjoy Ps if any rattles, the spring might be worn or broke, get a chrono to check the power. No, don't do that. A filter's far too light for a springer, it'll be like dry-fireing it. You'll end up breaking a spring or knacking up the piston head. There's two ways... Either lube your pellets so as you're getting the same effect from shot to shot, or just leave it alone. I've not cleaned an airgun barrel for the last 20 ish years and I've been useing them for a lot longer than that. Cheers. Edited January 5, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
All you need to worry about r-o-b-p is keeping the outside clean and handprint-free by giving the gun's metalwork a wipe over with a cleaning rag with a few drops of gun oil on it. NEVER put anything down your barrel until you know exactly what you are doing. It's highly unlikely you will need to clean the barrel. A fag filter? Good God No!! That will not provide sufficient buffer-resistance to the charge of air blasting into the barrel-breech and it it will be just as if you have dry-fired the action. As Andy's stated, that's just a good way to wreck the internals. Keep on with your Hawke scope and Air Arms Diablo Field .22 ammo. If it ain't broke, it don't need fixin' ATB Simon Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
She certainly does r-o-b-p, God bless her. I have a very understanding partner but she has never yet bought me anything for my shooting! Can't complain though, I come home with scopes and a new 426 quid Weihrauch HW77 rifle just before Christmas and she never gives me grief over what I spend. We are very lucky lads by comparison to what some others have to contend with. ATB Simon Quote Link to post
