Try Marmite for baiting rats, they love the stuff and be careful useing Co2 in this cold weather. I take it you're not outside long enough for your gun to get too cold, 'cos if it does the power will drop off very sharply...

its strange i was just coming on to ask about this!!, am normaly only shooting for 10/15mins because the man two alotments down complains coz am up "setting his pigeons", even though its like 400yrds away and you can hardlys hear the shots to start with! ive been out this morning with the rabbitstopper and like you said i noticed bad power loss, throught i was just low so changed and happend again! i figued it must of been the cold! thats the only thing about the rabbitstopper, power changeing in the gas all the time it gets a tad anoying, other than that nice little gun!

this is the HUGE draw back with Co2, temperature is a major factor in power. as an experiment we put a hair dryer on our rabbit stopper we bought when they were first released. heated the bottle up and power shot up to 18ftlbs! put it in the freezer and the power drops off to barely spitting a pellet out. it is very dangerous to do this as they are not designed to take high pressure!

 

Co2 is fine for plinking but serious shooting and taking live quarry it just isnt up to scratch.

cheers fella, ive had around 10 rats in the last few weeks just sitting for a while after feeding the chickens. i dont think its bad for my first gun! in the next few days am going to get all the chickens in the coop and hog it with the dogs! should be better!

You've got be careful when it gets cold, anything below about 5 deg C is a big no no with Co2.

 

I messed up a few weeks ago with my King Ratty, took it to a mate's who's been having problems with ferals crapping all over his stuff in a barn but it got a lot colder than I'd expected and the Ratty was useless. I don't blame the gun as I know it's limits, it was my fault for not checking the forcast.

 

Co2 does have it's uses, you've just got to get to know it and what it can do
