hi all i see all these threads about carry boxes etc but i have never used one i simply teach them to settle and ride in the hood of my jacket. am i the only person that does this?

Well good on you for having well trainned ferrets. Mine are jumping around as soon as i get the box out and dying to get out of it when I set it down. I wouldn't want to try to carry them without it especially with three dogs to deal with too.

i dont need to drive to get out to the rabbits there less than a 5 minute walk so ive never bothered with a box i was just wondering if any one else uses hoods/pockets but it seems its just me :crazy:

Most of the ferreting I do is around hedges and obsticals where I have to crawl under and over things, it would be impractial for me to be wearing a ferret, so a box for me is a must, plus my ferrets wouldn't wait for me to net up, they would be out of my hoodie in a flash

when my uncle was younger and doing more ferreting he allways carried a ferret in his pocket. he has allways said he found it easier to do it that way. so your not alone mate. i have tried it myself but only one of my ferrets will stay in my pocket and thats for a max of 5 mins.

I use a box when im ferreting as i have the three ferrets out at once but when im walking around with my mates or fishing or even when they go lamping as i dont have a dog the big hob goes in my pocket an he falls asleep after a while ,the hobs will go asleep anywhere where as the jills are harder to take out because there more lively.

Need some size of a hood to take 3 or 4 jills out ,then when your netting up it would need to lie around your neck to stop it falling out
