happylamper 7
don,t worry about heater plugs mate it ant got none it,s a direct inection and dosent use them the the best thing is to check to see if the fuel is runnnig back buy changeing the lift pump it,s found on the side of the engine under neath the exhaust manifold if that does,nt cure it change the cold start valve on top of the engine near the injector pump and timeing cover as there prone for siezeing up incold weather thease are the cheapest things and the easyest to check first and most of the time cure it if not your injectorpump could be on the way out cold start valve whats that look like mate.thanks hl

tom.k 8
:thumbs:it depends which engine you got mates all though they all look and fit the same its hard to describe its normally about 4 inches long with two wires which go to it but some are the mechanical type which work by vacum and the its the steel rod which controls the excess fuel which jams up the best thing to do is phone your local main dealer or any transit breakers in your area they should no as it,s very common on the earlier type banana engine but i would check the lift pump out as it,s easyier
higgins 75
hi chaps my lad has a the old ford transit 97plate he's havin problems starting the dam thing in a morning just gone and bought a new battery put it on turned the engine over the engine was turning fast at first then started to run flat,so stuck tow rope on it pulled off started within seconds, big cloud of smoke but cleared after a short while so i turned the thing off, went to restart fired straight up without a turn on the engine did this a number of times before letting the battery die again.would be adviseable to put abit of petrol in the diesel tank.to try and make it fire up better?thanks Hi mate, have a look on this forum, plenty on cold starts wit transits....Ford Transit Forum Higgins
rikjd 8
could it not be the fly wheel is worn? known that a few times were the starter will whir all day but its not in contact with the teeth on the flywheel due to being worn/missing. More likely to be one of the problems mentioned already then this but worth considering if your still struggling.
Guest crobinc840
I'm thinking starter too, I had the same problem. Gave the truck away and got another cheap on ebay.
