Is it the ammo or the gun ?

Recommended Posts

Iv got a .22lr Finnfire and have been usning winchester subs with no problem. The other day while out target shooting i re-zeroed my rifle to 50yards to make sure it was on target but it was out slightly to the left, so a quick change and fine. After about 3-4 shots it went far left(About one inch) so i fired again and it was fine ? The gun was rock steady and there was no wind.

I took the gun apart and gave it a good clean, i cleaned the barrel, took the bolt apart, the barrel off the gun, cleaned the reciver and even the magazine everything had a right going over. I know after a gun is cleaned you should put a few rounds through it to gets its zero back so i did but the same probelm mentioned above happend, is it the ammo ?

for .22lr i don't think your flinching, unless very nervous,

i'd check all bolts nuts etc, rezero, test fire and see if it does the same,

most .22lr rounds are wax coated, if you have put alot of these downrange, then i'd recommend a really good clean and scrub out, check the crown of the barrel for any damage,

and if all else fails change scopes and retry after zeroing,

Snap.

Do you use a mod on the rifle, could be very slightly out of line with bore ( especially after a few rounds have warmed up the barrel )i know this is unlikely with a 22rim but worth a try without mod fitted. Let another shooter have a go with your set up, if the same thing happens you know its not you

Hi, I have a sako finnfire, and of all the rounds I have put through it lapua came out tops, but eley subs were a close second and a lot cheaper. Therefore I would go with eley subs. I also found some batches of winnies jammed in the action.

Cheers
