Would be so sad to see the complete loss of the brown hare. The only people that think that are the armchair conservationists. Groups like the Hare Preservation Society. Penda 3,341 Posted December 21, 2010 Report Share Posted December 21, 2010 I was at a spot a thew weeks back used to have loads of hare good for the odd fox on there well anyway i never saw a hare on there for a good 2 seasons then when i was there that night i must of counted ten on one field its amasing cause the field is serounded by busy roads good to see them back on there Quote Link to post

Plenty of evidence that the Brown hare has been here since prehistoric times . Some folk like to claim the Romans introduced em on the basis of what they think Caesar wrote . What Caesar actually wrote was that the Britons were fond of making pets of their (wild )hares in the manner that was also the custom in Rome. The Romans introduced neither the brown hare or the leporium (scews spellin). They were already here. Quote Link to post
