HiLost 32
Yes you can put other info on the chip records such as tattoo, neutered, special markings scars etc, well I know you can with Petlog, am sure other chip companies are the same Quote Link to post

Guest chook
Chip and tattoo. Better to be safe than sorry, as a chip isnt proof you own the dog, so if it did get stolen, and someone wanted to keep the dog, they could unfortunaly if someone did that, there details would be protected under the data protection act, sounds daft but you only own the chip chips sometimes dont get picked up, and with vets - unless you ask them to scan a dog you've just found, then they wont scan. If the dog turns up at a rescue, pound or the dog warden, then you have a chance, as most will scan them although i have seen one or two dogs come in to rescue were as the pound hasnt picked up the chip and the rescue has had to contact the owner. Guest chook
got mine chiped but i would never have them tattooed as dog thiefs have been known to cuts there ears of That only ever happens with the racing grey's, they do it so the dog can not be traced, with lurchers its never happened although if i remember right, couple of years ago 3 lurchers were stolen and who ever nicked them, tried to remove the tats by useing acid, all 3 dogs were recovered as they ended up dumped, the tats were still readable - just about. collie/grey 238
good idear if you not running stuff you should not be running ........... and thay get your dog thay get you to......... And your point is? So your saying you would leave your dog if you got caught out? Quote Link to post
Paid 935
One small point to remember is, if the dog is 100% yours, it can be conviscated, but if you register the chip to a friend, or family member, you can say you borrowed it, and it needs to be returned to its owner. 100% chip it, but if you stray a little, maybe dont register the chip to yourself.
