Wardyuk 0
Hi there.... I lost a ferret about 2 months ago, leaving me with one. I was thinking of looking for a friend which is also around 3 years old. Because as I am in uni, I don’t know where I will be in a few years and don’t want to land young ferrets with my mum. It’s getting cold now and the ferret appears to be cold in its hutch, despite the hutch being in the garage and there being plenty of bedding available, during the bad weather. I don’t know if this is to do with the fact it’s always had another ferret to sleep with for 3 years. I also thought of asking my hunting mate if he wants to throw 3 ferrets in the one hutch (my hutch is two floors standard size really). Would that be a problem, has anyone heard of ferrets attacking each other? I have never had problems putting the ferrets in the same carrying box before. Any thoughts/suggestions please. Thank you Quote Link to post
anthonytomo 8
ive got three ferrets in a standard size hutch mate and all intoduced at different times id say if you do put your mates ferrets in or get another on just watch them closely they do scrap a little bit at first but not serious just to see the packing order there will proberly be hissing when you feed them but i havent had any problems when i have got new ferrets but i would watch them very closely atb anthonytomo Quote Link to post
DogMagic 461
Ferrets can and do kill each other but it is very rare. If you are worried though i would suggest you put them together at times when you are able to keep an eye on them. Any sign of a problem and split them up again. But no they should be fine. And your definately right to get your single one some company. Quote Link to post
dh90 6
Shouldnt be any problems putting ferrets together at this time of year, especially when its been with anther ferret before. Although ferrets do fight sometimes. If possible try putting the ferrets together before you commit to taking it. Everything SHOULD be fine Quote Link to post
higgins 75
Ive got four jills together, did have 5 but the old jill died,in this weather i'm sure they'd be interested in keeping warm together,so the more the merrier, Higgins. Quote Link to post

Wardyuk 0
Ok nice one lads, i am picking my mates two up today putting them in the one hutch. All the best Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,484
I've had mine seperated for a while into 3 pairs of hob and jill but just bunged them all into my old 6ft 2 tier cage yesterday so they can keep themselves warmer. The eldest jill was ragging one of her sons round for a bit but their fine now. Two of the hobs are tiny and ones big so its a good job he's not got his balls out or the littleuns would be sore. Wardyuk 0
Just to finish the post off, i have had no problems (touch wood) with the new ferret. It was supposed to be two ferrets joining my one, but we lost one of the ferrets. Bit of hissing goes on when it comes to food, but just glad mine has a bit of company again. All the best Quote Link to post

stroller 341
I have 3 jills and a huge hob in a 8'x4' partially covered court with a terrier dog kennel as their sleeping box, i just stuff the kennel full of hay and they all live very happily occasionally the older jill will fill up one of the play pipes with hay and live in that as if she is sick of the kids and needs a bit of peace and quiet:D Quote Link to post
