I have been reading this thread with much interest.

You are right the pictures of the kennels are very concerning for us all that own dogs.

I am an Anaesthetic Tech and part of the group of people who ends up taking care of someone who has suffered a dog attack. I work in a Trauma Operating theatre, and over the years and have operated on 11 unluckly individuals who have been attacked by dogs. I try to speak to the victims if appropriate, and get a better understanding of the incident. These were my findings.

1 was from a German Shepard attack dog who bit through the individuals protecive clothing.

1 was from a Bull Mastiff called "BEAR" who was beaten and chained up in the kicthen all day. Upon his first release, bit one of the owners friends.

5 have been from labradors. Manly hands and arm bits.

4 have been from terriers. 2x hands 2 x facial injuries.

None of the above operations lasted longer than 2 hours. However reconstructive work by a plastic surgeon was needed on all of the injuries, bar the German Shepard.

I am a beleiver that people should be jailed for having a dangerous weopon, if they are proved to be the owner of a dog that has attacked someone. I know of people who have many of the larger breeds discussed in this thread yet, I know they are looked after and cared for responsibly. Why would people need dogs like this on council estates and inner city suburbs with no intention of providing the facilities that it/ they realy need.

BLAME THE DEED, NOT THE BREED.

I own a lovely 3yr old Rotty, and a Grey/Whip/Collie Lurcher.

These are my findings, and this is my opinion.

kind regards,

Nik

Thats all aload of rubish about the dna testing , you cannot tel one dog breed from another from dna (beleive me !) let alone a staff from a pit ;)

You can tell if there is another breed in a dog from DNA testing, Bedlington Breeders have been DNA testing there dogs for many years for Copper Toxicosis. The 1-3 Marker that sometimes appears is suppose to come from Lakeland Terrier Breeding, most pedigree Bedlingtons will test either 1-1, 1-2 or 2-2

I am aware most bullxlurchers are staffordshire bull crosses. If there are people with pitbull crosses then you and yours dogs are at risk so think before you type.

MOLL.

i thought it was any bull breed cross pit bull terrier is classed as prohibited breed , any way how about sorting out the dog licence thing im sure they could catagorise all breeds by maybe a size grading sistem and knowledge testing for humans ,maybe it would get rid of all the unknowledgable idiots that possibly own a dangerous dog
