BSA R10 Review.

Recommended Posts

Hi Lads,

I have had my R10 for a couple of weeks now having brought it second hand. I have spent a lot o time on the range with it before using against live quarry. I thought Id share my findings with you.

This is my first pcp for a couple of years having been shooting a springer for a while. Upon taking it out of its packaging you cant help but notice the quality of the stock, its sweet as! In my opinion its one of the finer looking rifles on the market, no mean feat for a buddy bottle rifle.

A rifle like this deserves nice optics so I mounted a MTC Viper 10x44, I find the SCB reticule spot on for air rifle trajectories.

Now to the range. Loaded the two mags with AA Field 4.52 my usual ammo and started to group. The target card looked like Id given it both barrels with a 12 bore! Tried JSB's with the same result! I thought, shite Ive brought a right lemon here, I mean what barrel doesnt like them two, considered amongst the finest ammo out! A lad gave me half a tin of Acupels to try and it was a different story. Blasting the bull out at 35yds, near enough stacking pellet on pellet. They are only 7.9 grain so giving a flat trajectory, but I would imagine quite susceptible to be affected by wind.

Put a thirty shot string through the chrono with a variation of 6fps. Its pushing out 10.9ftlbs, a little down but not the end of the world as it is consistent and very accurate.

The trigger is crisp and breaks very cleanly with no creep. The cycling of the mag is smooth, and the firing cycle also. Im really struggling to find bad points other than its fussy barrel. Perhaps without a silencer added its loud. I screwed my HW silencer on and its amongst the quietest air rifles I know! Downside is it makes it very long but thinking of having the barrel and shroud shortened in the new year.

Glad I went ahead and got it. Hoping it will fill my game bag many times over

Kind Regards,

Mikey
