even walking around the set is magnified by the hard earth its like walking on a drum, i try to net up as quietly as possible stand well out of the way and down wind if i can.

i baged 5 on saturday,only one bolted the other 4 the ferts got at the entrances to the burrows and i had to pull then out its like the choose death over cold feet

They are just reluctant in this weather, especially in open ground with not much cover. We have this problem all the time so its just part of the game, when there is plenty of cover they bolt well. I also agree with the noise above ground that does make a big difference.

Some days are just like that all the conditions are right but they refuse to bolt . But probably heard you moving out above ground

we have had the same problem since the snow and hard ground arrived dig after dig we have had more hang ups in the last 2 trips out than all the rest of the season put together so far we started near the end of august the last couple of trips have been a nightmare but i do think its because the ground being so hard magnifies the sound when walking over the holes

i was netting up a warren hadent even got a ferrit in and rabbit came out screaming into the net my mate looked at me and said check under that rabbit and see if he has big balls

same today aswell 2 bolts 3 digs(1 was 5ft) and 1 i couldn't pick up on the finder and had to wait for the ferret to show,this i only the 2nd time iv had to dig(i only started ferreting this season)the hardest day ferreting iv had yet
