HALTY LAD 92
well huskies eat cold or frozen meat, and they seem ok on it from what ive seen on the box.?All i do is warm the dishes for them, and put just a drop of gravy on ther raw+mince chicken+meal As long as they are in warm kennel thats the main thing ( they look ok on it) Sounds good to me that. I feed my dogs as close to a natural diet as possible, eg: animals etc(BARF bone and raw), plus bits and pieces from the kitchen to add a bit extra in the way of leftover cooked veg etc. In the earlier years of dried complete feed, I did try some of the better makes, but found that the dogs were slowly wasting away with daily work and often needed rest days. I ocaisionally add warm water in very cold weather, not sure why, but probably just feel that they will benefit as it will help keep their bodies warmer. The main thing ive found over the years is that feeding more natural fats during the winter season will keep the dogs in fine fettle even through periods of intense daily work. This, I cant supply myself, as the on-the-bone meat I feed my dogs is very lean game, so I have upheld friendships with several butchers and stock pile large ammounts of fatty offcuts that are otherwise wasted, Ive been feeding like this for ten years now, and wouldnt change for anything. And echoing BIRD'S comments about the huskies, which endure sub zero temps every day and also work their arses off, a high percentage of the meat they are given is very fatty, from seals etc, this wont make an active dog 'fat' but will help stop it loosing condition as it provides a huge ammount of energy, therefore alowing the dog to work without drawing on its own reserves too much.

Hannah4181 260
Mine get fed 100% BARF . . . however my bitch has recently in the last few weeks started vomiting after eating her food. Its only been on the coldest days and when the food has still been chilled, in my mind i guess cold food, cold stomach is the cause. There is nothing wrong with her in any other way and her stools are fine. I gave her kibble with hot water and mince and she was completely fine, it all stayed down. I've now started putting the raw meat and bones next to the boiler for an hour or 2 before feeding and that also seems to have done the trick. The last week or say they have been having a hot meal of mince and kibble after their walk, normally they are cold and wet and in my mind it's nice that their bellies are warm.
