Strong Stuff 2,171
so which is best to go for the 1.5" or the 2"? for a lurcher. he`s not a bull x and not massively built. 24" tts and has a very skinny neck. i always thought the wider the better for lurchers, grays or whippets but on the website the lurcher is wearing the thinner collar. also is there any benefit to a weighted collars while general walking/training? For a pup mate, I'd suggest either a 3/4 or 1" wide, with 4 layers. Step away from the weight collars, you do not need or want one, they are for a specific purpose. The wider collars, have had lads say they are too wide and the dog can't strike wearing them, but then I've had many more lads saying that the collars have been useful protecting the dogs neck in certain situations, so it's all up to you. Hope that helps. A Quote Link to post

Strong Stuff 2,171
Replied to mate. Just noticed Shepp is looking at the topic, he'd be good to ask about size as he had collars for dogs that aren't 3 foot tall and weigh the same as a teenager hahaha. Quote Link to post

Strong Stuff 2,171
My beddy with her Strong Stuff collar Thanks for posting that mate, as the photo shows I do make gear for smaller dogs too. Quote Link to post
shepp 2,285
My 22" collie grey in hers. I am really pleased with mine, really well made and not too heavy for either dog. I would definately get a matching lead as well, really nice to hold with a brass loop on the hand piece to clip onto it self and carry round your neck and under arm. The big loops and buckels are great for gloved hands and you can run a string threw the loop to slip the dog instead of under the collar it self. I would'nt go back to the leather ones now. Strong Stuff 2,171
Do you do greyhound type or are they all straight cut ? Straight mate, nylon webbing can only be successfully cut across it's width. Quote Link to post

Cut 2 strips of cardboard, one @ 1.5" wide, the other @ 1" wide, put them around the dogs neck and see which you prefer. Quote Link to post

The lurchers one is 1.5", I think it's perfect for her size. If she was a 26" + dog then I would maybe consider the 2". Quote Link to post
