pigeonphill 69
just got back from doing a field warren ive had my eye on to do at night for a few weeks. so after laying some 35- 40 nets , down went the two big hobs i choose to use, standing there at night ferreting felt strange but it was so light with the snow you could see easy . the ferrets went to work and at a steady rate the rabbits were bolted. in a 45 minute period 10 rabbits were bolted missing one and i blame the snow freezing the net for that one . any one who hasnt done ferreting at night and got the right ground should have a crack as it was fcuking amazing. out tomorrow with steve and roy to do a bit of ratting and ferreting all the best phill Edited December 18, 2010 by pigeonphill 1 Quote Link to post

pigeonphill 69
a carry on from last night saw steve and myself out with out roy what with the weather, drove past a warren at the side of the lane and steve saw a rabbit sitting out side a hole so we pulled over and thought we would give it a go . started to net up and as we did a rabbit tryed to bolt even before we were ready for the ferrets .with the ferrets in we had three more bolt then one ferret found below ground , i collared one of the hobs up and we [me] started to dig broke threw and pulled not one but two rabbits out but it was not even a dead end they were just in a tube , we then went to do a spot of ratting but drew a blank . we were then told of a small warren in the middle of one field and thought we would let bramble have a run , well a rabbit bolted and tryed to go straight down another hole but bramble was to quick and grabbed it one more rabbit tryed to bolt but saw us and done a u turn and faced the ferret .we collered up another jill and put her to ground . we got a mark and started to dig when both ferrets came up minus the collar . we did get the collar back but no rabbit . a quick pint in the local and back home for a early day Quote Link to post

comanche 3,025
Nice one Phil. We were out yesterday ,probably not a million miles from you . We also had a couple of rabbits in the nets before the freds even left the box . My mate reckoned that it was his reputation as a rabbit catcher that had them surrendering. That was a silly thing to say as it was'nt long before one of the nets he'd set let let a bunny slip by . We did not of course take the micky . Bet your little dog is coming along with all this work. All the best Quote Link to post
