robbobsam 0
I just got my new rifle today and am looking forward to trying it out. It is a CZ 452 American .22LR fitted with an Optik RF3.9x40 adjustable scope and SAK moderator. The whole package brand new cost me £420. What are your views I have shot literally 100's of rabbits this year with my CZ 452 .22lr. I advise you to get a decent scope on it, get a new trigger from rimfire magic (£20) and float the barrel (Remove the action and wrap sand paper around a piece of 1/2" coper pipe and sand under the barrel till the barrel is well clear of the stock) Then you will have a rifle that will be incredibly accurate 1/2" groups at 50yds and will be able to kill rabbits easily at 100yds+. Get familiar with the drop on your rifle and to do this zero at 50yds then retreat to 75 yds shoot 3 rounds at same target and see where the bullets hit, then put the cross hairs on the original point of aim and see on the scopes reticule where the 75yds drop is. Then do the same with 100 and 125yds. By doing this you will be able to take accurate shots up to 125yds. I have taken many rabbits at 125yds by doing this as long as there is no wind. If the wind is up restrict shots to chest shots at 50yds. Edited December 19, 2010 by robbobsam Quote Link to post

danebrewer10 6
another thing, when you leave the gun in the cabinet take the mod off else the corrosive gases will seep back down the barrel and corrode it, I was talking to the guy in the gun shop the other day and he said that someone came in to tade in a rifle that had only fired 5 or 6 shots over as many years and the barrel was corroded to hell because of this very reason (plus he never cleaned it) having said that some people never clean their .22s and don't suffer any problems.... Terryorr 27
Looking forward to getting crack out of it. Just completed the rifle today by adding new bipod, 9 to 13inch adjustable legs, Harris lookalike brand new £35, well pleased. Bought 300 CCI minimags (£5/100), 50 Federal shot shells £9.50/50 and he threw me in 50 Eley subsonic hollow and 50 Winchester T22 so have plenty of choice to play with Quote Link to post

JohnGalway 1,043
It is a CZ 452 American .22LR fitted with an Optik RF3.9x40 adjustable scope and SAK moderator. Nice rifle, I was going to buy one of them myself before I bought the Quad, SAK is a good mod as well, does the job, never heard of the scope. I have shot literally 100's of rabbits this year with my CZ 452 .22lr. Then do the same with 100 and 125yds. By doing this you will be able to take accurate shots up to 125yds. See how the scope works out, it's only rimfire range after all. But agree on the trigger and floating the barrel - wipe the sanded area only down with some meths on a cloth, then seal with clear varnish after sanding. Done something similar for range with my own before, works well, becomes second nature when out shooting. Used to zero at 60 yards. another thing, when you leave the gun in the cabinet take the mod off else the corrosive gases will seep back down the barrel and corrode it, I was talking to the guy in the gun shop the other day and he said that someone came in to tade in a rifle that had only fired 5 or 6 shots over as many years and the barrel was corroded to hell because of this very reason (plus he never cleaned it) having said that some people never clean their .22s and don't suffer any problems.... Agree with keeping the mod off, clean the threads on the rifle and your crown then you're good to go. try the eley subs or the winchester see which goes better out ur gun then stick with them Quote Link to post
RicW 67
Load of crap. Better off with a big stick. PS I've got a big stick I'll swap . . . Good choice bro. Tho' the shot shells are for indoors. Drop a charging spider at 6ft if you hit it between the eyes. They have 8 eyes. Quote Link to post
Terryorr 27
Hello Nod, your probably correct about the CCIs but for 5p each they,ll do for messing about. The Eley subs and Winchester, I dont know the price but it wont matter if they do the job. Hi John, the scope was £55 (certainly not expensive) but the clarity and magnification is exceptional, and as you said its only on a rimmy. I.ll try and pit up a picture of the set up. First scope I had on my .22lr was a Simmons Blaser 3-9x50. Bought it off Ebay, all in including delivery it cost me $50, but it done the job I needed it to. Quote Link to post
