TGEvans 4
First one! I have just purchased a Lanber 12 bore over and under! The chap I had it off was using it for wildfowling. The metal work needs some work so just wondered what products you guys reccomend for getting the rust off and re blueing. Any hints and tips greatly apreciated. Never done it before so it will be a learning curve! Next question! I will be getting myself a .22 LR over the coming months. I have shot a few in the past but always got on well the the CZ 425 American model. I know these things can be quite personal but how do they rate againt more expensive guns like Sako and Remington? Thanks guys, Tim. Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
the CZs are fine rifles but the triggers are JUNK! Timney make an aftermarket drop in unit which will make a j=huge difference, Sako and Anschutz have the best triggers though my anne has a miniscule ammount of creep, it creeps and then it stops, I know that a couple of extra ounces will slip the shot, the CZ on the other hand, it's a bit of a lottery, quite mushy, on the plus side of the CZ they are a lot cheaper! the annies do seem to have gon up in price recently though the Wheirauch HW60? looks good value if you can put up with the hogs back stock it depends what you want it for, I really love simply owning the annie, -my pride of ownership argument again, but the CZs as I said can hold their own, they're just a little more agricultural, but the number of downed rabbits will attest to their effectiveness! as for the rust, I'm not sure, I think just a lot of elbow grease and clean cloths and gun oil seems to get any light rust showing through the bluing off, but I've never let mu guns ever get to that stage I really have no idea about cold bluing, personally, I'd just get the barrels or whatever else sent off and done proffessionally, I shouldn't think it'd be too expensive Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
getting the rust off and re blueing, Tim. If the rust isn't very bad, use 000 wire wool and oil, then touch up with cold blue. If it's very bad, then give it to a gun smith, you have a great one in Talgarth (spelling?).
