Depends on your budget mate. Also, are you wanting a precharged or a springer. If precharged, you need to budget for a bottle or stirrup pump. A decent first PCP would be a BSA Ultra or Air Arms S200.

If its a springer your after, an Air Arms TX200 or Weihrauch HW would be a good starter. They can be picked up for good prices 2nd hand.

Hi chiefdogfoxer mate.

I'll give you the same advice I gave my own son. Get yourself a good quality spring rifle. Learn to shoot from the ground floor up with a Weihrauch 95k or 97k, or Air Arms TX200 or Prosport. If you can shoot very well with a spring rifle, you can shoot brilliantly with a pcp when/should you want to go that route. Personally, PCP rifles are no more accurate than a top spring rifle, they are just easier to handle and shoot because they are recoiless. But they cost a lot more and can be infuriatingly unreliable machines needing a lot more care and maintainance than the good old springer. There's a pro and a con with both to be honest but, with a spring rifle you are never stuck for some great shooting.

hello mate and welcome to the forum  as mentioned above, i would personally buy a good quality springer, tried and tested ones like air arms or weihrauchs wont let you down, if you look in the for sale section there always coming up, for less than £250 u can pick them up with scope and bag sometimes. get a tin or 2 of pellets and some targets and have fun plinkin away untill your consistant at 25-30 meters. pointless spendin 5 or 600 pounds on a pcp setup because if you dont like the sport it may end up in the back of a cupboard! anyway mate enjoy..mick

hi mate, and welcome

i'd agree with the above comments regarding a springer, and add that theres a real joy to the simplicity of chucking some pellets in your (clean) pocket and going out with one, instead of worrying about the technical issues relating to pcps, and their additional expense with pumps/dive bottles etc.

you'll save a fair few quid too, and you can always upgrade to a pcp when you want to.

all the very best, wurz
