thorny 100
I have decided to go with a Beddy x Whippet, thankfully someone on here has a litter from good working parents planned. My name is down on the list, so fingers crossed. Great feedback thanks Thorny Quote Link to post
Mick C. 229
A good bushing / marking dog will improve the bag immensely. The best bushing dogs i ever owned were what i would call mongrel lurchers. They were on the small side but very game. They were not purposley bred for bushing it just happened naturally. However they did have loads of prey drive. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
I'd get a terrier, i love spaniels but would recommend a terrier to someone who just wants a busher, far easier to train and work with for the amateur. Quote Link to post
kevcleg 10
i use springers find anything Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
If someone just wants a dog to knock out to the lurchers why go for a well bred and costly spaniel, which will require lots of training and work when a £50 quid jack Russell will do the job fine, or in fact better as they are vocal and so the lurchers can track them in cover, and they are also a catch dog. kevcleg 10
any dog is only be as good as the time you put into trainning it the end of the day you want to have full control of it not some yappy terrier running all over the place scaring all the game for miles around Quote Link to post

I agree training is important but if your going to train it like a terrier anyway then just get one. Quote Link to post

black-spring 18
What do people use or suggest, and what does it add to Your team. Thorny i use patt x springer, in truth can be a bit hard, can ruck with other dogs if pushed, also is on the large side for some cover. but saying that he makes most trips out mooching fun! there are a few guys out there breading good stuff, beagle x terrier x cocker that sort of thing. all the best, Quote Link to post
