chriso 3
It's about -3, flat calm and crunchy with ice out there but I've got an itch to go out for some bunnies tonight. It's black eye friday and I've got work in the morning so I'm looking for something to do to take my mind off the fact that everyone else is on the lash. I'm gonna have a couple of hours out after my tea, what's the chances of me getting any shots? Quote Link to post

DEE 0
i was out last n8 but our problem was it hit -6(thts cold when ther was also a decent breeze)but we had no look with the bunnies but we managed to find about half dozen pheasants sat in an open field . I dint have a clue why they wer they but one of my mates told me earlia that when the snows on the ground the prefer to sit out in a field together because the snow reflects the light upwards which makes the be able to see and forth coming danger. just wondered if this is bull or usefull info ?? thnakx DEE Quote Link to post
chriso 3
Well I managed a couple of hours before my fingers froze stiff - even with neoprene gloves on! Seen a few bunnies out but could not get close enough for a shot. Also frightened a pheasant out of some reeds although I wouldn't have shot it cos I'm pretty sure it's illegal to shoot birds after dark. I'm planning on going to work on my bike at 5am and don't want that pain in my fingers again so hoping the snow stops by then. Quote Link to post
rossi_j 99
Well done on braving it mate, unlucky on not bagging, im not sure where you stand on bagging birds at night, im pretty sure your not allowed to use artificial light to do it, but maybe by siloette like wildfowlers do, im not sure tho mate. .atb. .ste. Reading the open liscence may help clear things up. Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Nothing wrong with shooting birds after dark, as long as you can see them. What's illegal is "using any torch, mirror, dazzling device or other artificial illumination" to shoot them, when using the general licence. As pheasant are game, they are not covered by the licence, but there is no law preventing their shooting at night. 2 Quote Link to post
