i have a wheaton cross, and have found what you fellas have added very interesting and have confirmed a few answers, my bitch is very agressive at times, and gets very possive over a kill she has made, but as someone pointed out a few up from me, with the wheatons being a mute, i find my dog is extremly quite when on somthing or in the middle of somthing avin a good jerk of it, but this can be a down side as not showing any signs of injury can be fatal, my dog has a fairly rough coat and is hard to spot cuts, gashes ect, under the fair, and she will never indicate shes hurt, this could lead to infection ect, so i take alot of time avin a good butchers at her after a night or day out........

ill get some pics up soon guys props for this thread :clapper:

OK Taffy we will agree to disagree, but certainly with no bad feeling bud. I have seen enough Wheatons 'work' to know a good one is worth its weight. Although I do not believe in having any Draw Dogs at a dig, as I can do what is needed most times.

I get a bit 'passionate' when the subject turns to 'GAMENESS' as it is a very misunderstood word. We did get off the subject a little, as it really doesn't matter too much as these Dogs are being used over Greyhounds anyway and most of their gameness could be lost in the offspring. What guys need to think about is that because something says Bull Greyhound or Wheaton Greyhound it doesn't mean that is it, you got your Fox killer or whatever, the chances are you might have but not definitely. I have been through around 15 Lurchers to get what I have now and be totally happy with what they can do. The Lurchers I have had have been from the 'right stuff' too, not scatterbred backstreet breedings. One was actually an Alsatian Bull Greyhound, which would kill things but only once a Night!! I have tried various crosses too and found that I like the Bull Greyhound blood over the other crosses I have tried. You still have to be careful though, as first crosses can be too short in the back or too short and heavy etc. Second crosses can be too light for what you may want, so anyone who gets their ideal Dog first off well done and those looking, good luck.
