Provisional moped license

Recommended Posts

Just wondering, as i've bought a moped, in order to ride it, obviously i will have to be 16 (will be in a couple of weeks). I have to apply for my provisional, what else do i have to do? My mum reckons that's it, but it might have changed since she drove a moped.

Somebody said something about a cbt test? But i've also been told it's optional.

Cheers for any replies

Heya :) Ive got a moped, you have to get your provisional as you stated and you also have to do a CBT (compulsary bike/basic training) which will enable you to ride on a provisional for two years from the day you pass, its a 4-6 hour practical test

Any more info needed gimme a shout

cheers

Cheers for the reply pal, was the cbt easy? Is it literally just driving round cones/driving on roads, or is there a written part?

Cheers

Was easy enough passed with flying colours

This is where i done mine ---> http://www.warringtonbiketraining.co.uk/www.warringtonbiketraining.co.uk/info.php?p=2 worth a good look on there as it outlines what every CBT instructor will go through with you, its pretty much all practical skill, you just have to know the highway code, pretty much no theory to it :D

Just so you know fella, don't get would up/stressed about it, it's training not a test!! It's a f*****g laugh aswell!! :D

You'll watch a video, then go out in the car park, do a straight line, turn round come back, do some corners, learn lifesaver (looking over your shoulder before moving) do an emergency stop then go out on the road for 20 mins or so, then he'll sign a certificate saying you've received the training.

It flys by because it's a proper laugh/buzz doing it for the first time, there's usually 2 of you aswell so it takes pressure off, on the road you have an ear piece in, he'll follow you and say left or right and you just do that :D

Yeah i've done mine not so long since, it's illegal to ride without it, CBT Compulsory basic TRAINING - so don't worry you cant fail as the others have said, I did mine for 125 motorbike but it's the same, so much easier getting to work and back on a bike
