the thing with shepards is their not fight driven,if theres a couple of people there and while ones getting attacked the other gives the dog kickin they'll jib,very good for chasing down and catching a single person who is running away though.

 

if i needed a serious guard dog i'd go for a high fight drive, low rank drive bandog

a staff isnt the way forward, , mine is excellent at guarding, has a excellent sense of the wrong type which proves handy, but i know many staffs that would let you in and show you the keys for the car whilst making you a brew . . a alsation, rottie, would be best, a friends rottie will let you in the house but wont let you back out, not sure if thats classed as guarding ?

my birds mate has a Rhodesian Ridgeback witch is very good guard dog, its bloody mental but i serrpose any dog what was used to fight lions has got to be.

im sure there will be exceptions but German/belgian/dutch shepards are made to chase one person down and catch them,with a handler hot on their heel's.

She's a german shepard mate, as you said withsome1 giving you a kicking then give the dog a clip and it wud shy away. Would never happen with this bitch mate, if you have a proper bond with the dog any dog it would die for you (with the exeption of my bullx) haha
