Hannah4181 260
I wouldn't choose a staff as a guard dog . . . a genuine staff is never people aggressive, or shouldn't be. That said there is plenty of "staffs" being bred and mixed with all kinds of shit to achieve that "look" init! I would go for a well bred shepherd, rottie or doberman . . . .but again do your homework, there's a heap of shit around.

Hollie 21
I agree, all the staffs i have known will give it the mouth but they do so with a wagging tail, unless they are unstable, badly bred dogs, in which case they are ticking time bombs
robo-christ 40
its easy to make any dog, even a staff very aggressive to people if you want,or you can just build suspicion of stranger's. either way I wouldnt go for a staff mainly because the breed doesnt need to be seen as a human aggressive dog in the current climate. also if you havent got any experience in training/raising a dog for any sort of protection work it's very important you go to someone who has Edited December 15, 2010 by robo-christ
Aaron_butcher 17
We've got two GSDs guarding our yard. Not very socialised, just roam around our land. Nobody gets passed them. My sisters boyfriend decided to let himself round one day and the pair of them turned him over. Not even the jahovahs come down our drive anymore. Lovely pair of dogs if you know them though. Guest crobinc840
You can train the dogs you have to guard. It's not that hard, I'm sure there's plenty of people on here in your area that can help. Good luck

The only way you would get past it is to (shoot) it or poison it, and that is for any dog. So if you want a good one get the best
