firthy 54
Hi there all mine and a good friends quest has now started. We are in search of a 30 lb + pike from a particular water which we have been fishing for a good number of years. We've seen some rather large big girl in there before hand as well and also have a good numerous upper doubles and a few 20's here and there. My biggest to date is a 21lb 110z. I have seen photo's of 30's and im desperate to catch one. There is meant to be 3 or 4 in there and at least one has got my name on it. We decided last nnight for some ungodly reason to set off and do a night on this lake in the hope we might catch a pike in the early hours of morning. On arrival after a long trek across a few big fields we found that the lake was actually still frozen solid. We was gutted we had spendt ages walking across these field and went through some effort getting all our kit ready. We was so keen to fish we decided we would try and give a go at trying to break the ice, after some time a good hour or so we managed to break 2 holes around 3m square out of the ice. Some parts of the ice were easily 40 mm thick. Any how we slept rough under atarp sheet in our sleeping bags which was a bit uncomfortable but we was desperate for one of the big girls that the rocks in our backs would have to be beared. Unfortunately in the morning the holes we had cleared had iced over again we was gutted. Overall it wasn't too bad an experience, only part of me that was cold was the tips of me toes, i cant find a pair of thermal socks that seem to do what they say on the label. Any way it hasnt put us off we're just gonna have to wait a few weeks in the hope the ice melts and we get a few sessions in. http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv74/firthy_bucket/fish008.jpg This is the 21lb 11oz Quote Link to post
