19powell90 89
After purchasing some bisley mags i decided to do an accuracy test against the well known AA Fields. As i thought that the heavier pellet would be better for hunting, is this true??? I did a 10 shot test with each pellet using my s410 at about 15 meters. Please bare in mind that my scope is zeroed with the AA Fields which you will notice on the pics. On both pellets i aimed for the white dot in the center. group size 13.5mm group size 11mm as you can see the AA's are a little bit more accurate but only by 2.5mm i will upload some more tests at different distances hope you like scott Edited December 15, 2010 by 19powell90 Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Nice groups I had a similar drop in POI when I ran the Biz Mags through my baby. Again my Zero was with AAF's (only difference was its .22) Also I notice that your BizMag group was (bulk of) to the left as was mine A heavier pellet retains nore energy down range than a lighter pellet, BUT as I am going to tell you, most others will agree here. If you can put a pellet in the kill zone, the quarry is going to die quickly and it's not down to the weight, cal or retained energy of the pellet its where you put it Phantom Edited December 15, 2010 by Phantom Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Both brands of pellets are very good pellets and group really well in my Ultra but it was set up for Bisley Magnums as that's what Tench found to be the best in that particular barrel. Just remember mate that your mate could have the same rifle as you in the same calibre with a serial number only 1 away from yours and the results could be totally the other way around as every barrel is different slightly. You now do that same test in the wind mate and I bet I will tell you which pellet will group better. Thanks for putting in the time on the test though buddy. Great post Si Quote Link to post

Si ok thanks also i was looking at getting my s410 regged, so does he test which pellet is better? and once it has been regged do you need to use only one kind of pellet? just some info needed really thanks scott Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Scott, Mr Howarth will set your rifle up if he tunes it to the best pellet for it so you get the best out of it mate. Not sure about the reg bit pal I think he just sets it up on a good pellet so that its doing around 11.7 -11.8 ft/lb. Better off giving him a call buddy as I’m thick when it comes to rifle internals. No you still can use any other pellet you want buddy. Si Quote Link to post
19powell90 89
did some chrono testing today with the aa's and bisley mags i did shots and my averages are: AA FIELDS 1-10 11.28ft/lb - 777fps 11-20 11.34ft/lb - 779fps 21-30 11.32ft/lb - 776fps 31-40 11.42ft/lb - 782fps 41-50 11.40ft/lb - 781fps 51-60 11.40ft/lb - 781fps 61-70 11.36ft/lb - 780fps 71- 11.22ft/lb - 775fps BISLEY MAGS I only did 10 as these were low and my aa s410 likes the aa's more so far. 1-10 10.62ft/lb - 674fps Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
I think you may be missing another point. The heavier pellets drop alot faster than the medium to light ones. If you are shooting an unknown range, as in a hunting situation, then you have more chance of not being accurate with the heavier pellet due to its trajectory. Have a go with Bisley Long Range golds if you can get some. They are very light, but a superb pellet in the field.I first used Magnums many years ago when i was still shooting an Airporter and i wasn't particularlly taken by them then. I fully agree with Phantom when he states that its where the pellet hits rather than the 'energy'. Over the years i have walked out with lads that have boldly stated that 'such and such' a pellet was no good for feather etc. Hit them in the right place and they go down. We all like different things, personally i like a light, flat-flying pellet that i know doesnt need too much of a hold over at range. Just a thought.....JD Quote Link to post
jazmin 44
Just what i am finding with the lighter .22 falcon pellets some of the heavy ones (mags inc) are just far to loopy.I know its .177 thread but anyone wanting a lighter pellet in .22 try the falcons. Quote Link to post
