andy s410c 61
The sheet netting should be selvedged when you buy it...mine was. However if you want to add a heavier twine, there was a topic done on it a while back on here. Quote Link to post

redeye jedi 39
im thinking of buying 200yards of sheet netting to make a 50yard and two 25yard long nets,my question is will i have to add a selvedge mesh?if so whats the best twine to use? thanks BW The simple answer to that is no you wont need to. one of the reasons for adding a selvage mesh is to help the net hang better and also to protect against wear and tear. knitting by hand the way we do the knots sit the wrong way once on the lines and a true diamond shape isnt formed, the net tries to return to the direction it was stitched. however when a selvage mesh is added we stitch the selvages vertically as the net would hang on the lines. if you add one it will last longer. most sheet netting comes with a double selvage added, if your going to add a thicker selvage then you'll need to buy a twine thats 3 x the thickness of the net to get any real added benefit against wear and tear although this would only be in theroy 30%. ie 4z netting go for twine size 210/36 (12z) or 210/48 (16z). hope ive explained the right, im not the best writer in the world. ATB REDEYE Spot on about the hand made nets hanging better But IMHO it is a waste of time adding selvedge to sheet netting as the rabbits will have chewed through the net before the selvedge wears out. I still have 4z nets here that are over 20 years old, they do have a lot of patches, and I mean a lot but the selvedges are fine. TC Quote Link to post
