I understood it as when averaged out half the pups will turn out this way,whatever the percentage its a no no,

I dont want an argument but read what you just wrote again. . . . "I hope there is a way to breed a good looking dog that is functional otherwise there will be a seperation in lurchers that has happen

any 1 bred merl and merl ???

if you breed merle to merle half the pups will be blind and deaf :no:

 

 

Don't think that's quite right mate. Agreed there is a risk of producing blind/deaf pups when breeding merle to merle

but to say half of the litter will be born that way isn't right.:no:

There are a lot of components to the genes that create colour and the lack of, very complicated it might not be 50/50. It could be worse or they could all turn out ok. It's still a bad idea and the breeders that do it only do it for a bitch that can produce all merles £££££ :thumbdown:Either that or they just don't know the dangers of it and they shouldn't be breeding anyway. :thumbs:
