Snifferboy 659
Can anybody describe to me what are deemed to be good feet in your dogs or if you have any pics, sad I know, but I would love to know what are good feet and what are bad. Also I keep looking at my pups feet and the claws on the front are a lot longer than the one on the back, I figured this is a lot to do with the way they are used, but was wondering if they are too long or not? She gets a lot of exercise and we do cover quite a bit of ground on the road. I thought that this would be enough to keep them in check, could do with some answers if you got the time. Many thanks Sniffer Quote Link to post
Guest crobinc840
They should be closed toes curved like cats paws. My dogs usually have shorter back nails than front, just trim them to the right lenght if it doesn't happen naturally. Quote Link to post
lofti 579
dont worry mate, its not sad you asking it can make a world of diffrence with a dogs running career, lurchers with bad feet can spend most of their time laid up due to knocked up or even broken toes.. good feet are when the toes are tight together as opposed to having gaps in between them also like the picc above the knukcles are arched instead of flat, hence the term "flat footed" Quote Link to post

scotty2306 37
both my dogs have really tight feet but tight feet dont mean good feet i say a good foot is 1 that never has probs regardless to wether they are flat or tight.one of mine has never had a problem the other knocked a toe up 2 month ago and now has calus and a big lump so tight feet still can injure ive seen flat footed dogs never have a problem i wouldnt worry Quote Link to post
