Visitor Oop North Day 2

Sorry for the late writeup guys, supposed to be on holiday but had to go into work!

Anyway.....day 2 of Davy's visit up here turned out a little more productive

We hit the permission after our usual 45min drive, night vision set and headed out a lot earlier than we normally would due to Davy's departure on Sunday. This time Davy went with Wor kid.

The ground was more or less the same as our other permission we visited on the Friday night, melting snow and squelchy mud, that was until the temperature decided to plummet and the lot froze and left a thick haw frost covering the ground. This made stalking very difficult, every step sounded like a platoon of marching soldiers.

We headed up towards the railway embankment which is normally alive with rabbits but yet there were only a few out, which was normally the case in our early arrival.

I managed to get my first after a stalk what felt like an hour (but was only probably 5 mins, a neat headshot at about 35M, the second came a bit later but not after getting a massive voice coming thru the radio just as I was about to kneel to take the shot which caused the rabbit to run 30M further down the field. Luckily it stopped and I began the stalk and managed a 30M shot to watch it fall

After the first hour or so with not much about and the NV fogging up due to the heat of the body and the cold of the night I headed back to the van and met wor kid and Davy for a cuppa.

We headed up to the top of the hill to a different part of the permission which is quite treacherous in the daytime never mind at night with hidden boulders, gullys and cliffs.

I disappeared again and headed off to a large warren under a Sycamore tree where I took my 3rd of the night.

The last of mine came from round by the tyres that the farmer uses to keep the plastic over the silage, leaning on the fencepost it was bang on zero and went down like a sack of spuds!

I managed 4, Davy managed 2 and wor kid 1 making the total for the night 7 big fat bunnies!

We had a great weekend and enjoyed Davys company, I think he had a good time too!

A couple of photos from the night apologies for the quality.....More would have been taken if both Davy and myself had renewed the batteries before we drove into the middle of nowhere :icon_redface:

Great write up Darryl buddy,

Were you using the HW100 or the BSA Super 10 mate?

I can’t make it out on my iphone.

Bloody good shooting anyway buddy with a NV scope that is probably not more that x4 mag.

When I used to have my Paladin NV rifle scope and use my HW95K with it, I found it really hard to judge distance at night through a NV scope.

Proper nails infact, so 30 metres is a hell of a shot buddy on a bunny, well done.

Well done to Davy and Gary too.

Top blokes and good mates of mine.
