My new Prosport

Recommended Posts

Hi all, not posted on here for a good while, not been out for quite some time, but its not stopped me buying a new gun :)

After selling the TX, I fancied a new gun, it came down to either 97k, another TX, or a Prosport. After looking through the net, and also talking to Shay on here, I decided on the Prosport. Luckily for me there was one for sale on the AAOC. It was a .177 walnut stocked Prosport, 3 years old, came with a Hawke Sport HD 4-12X50 mildot scope which had been re parallaxed to 25 yards, a realtree gunbag and a sling. The guy also had the internals and trigger tuned, so i took it. The guns in great condition, stocks more or less 100% and action is about 95%, with sum small scratches on barrel but hardly noticable.

Here it is .............

After waiting over a week to get it due to the weather, it finally arrived Friday while i was at work. First chance i got to shoot it was yesterday morning so took it out to the garden. Had been told it worked well with AA 4.52's so had ordered two tins for when it arrived.

Went into the back garden and set a target at about 25 yards. Took my first shot, and without a word of a lie, smack bang on the bull. I couldnt believe it, and put it down to a lucky shot (which it was really), but then took 5 shots at another target and good a really good group, the rifle was obviously still on zero from previous owner. I only got a chance to shoot about 5 or 6 groups before a mate appeared at the door and i had to head off. Had another play with it today and was getting good groups again, shooting prone rested on a bag with a pillow in it.

Some more pics

My first ever shot with the gun, i know this does seem unbelievable, and i know it was just luck, but here it is..........

Looking good John,

Glad to see you back again  now go get some bunny meat :D

Phantom

Cheers Phantom mate. Could be some feather on the cards soon. Stopped in on a farm 5 mins from my house this afternoon, loads of crows feedin in the cow sheds and got permission to have a go at them. Went back up for half an hour with the gun just incase i could catch any slipping, not a thing, they see you before you see them. Plan is to get some deeks, crow caller and some camo netting and bait them in with a dead rabbit

Hi John,

That’s a very nice rifle buddy.

I have owned and used extensively a .22 calibre Air Arms ProSport myself in the past, but had to sell it due to going though a split from my wife.

I really regret letting her go though (the rifle not the wife) but had no choice pal.

They are brilliant rifles, and when I’m back on my feet again properly and decide to buy a new springer I will defo get another ProSport without a question mate.

Very accurate, smooth to shoot and they handle superbly.

Mine loved Webley Accupell pellets and chronoed very well with them giving a very good shot to shot consistency.

I wish you all the best with yours buddy and hope that you enjoy your shooting with it.

The ProSport is one of the 2 springer rifles that I have used a lot and would say that if used and shot correctly is as accurate as a PCP up to 40 – 45 metres  .
