bullet for deer

Recommended Posts

following a conversation i had today i would like to ask a question, is it illegal to take a deer in england using a ballistic tipped bullet?

NO-- But a Ballistic Tip is a trade name for Nosler all the other coloured Tip's are Polymer Plastic. Some Estate's and Pro Stalker's WONT allow people with Polymer Tip's to shoot Deer. I wont get into a debate about Polymer Tip's but IMHO leave em for what Nosler FIRST designed them for Paper Punching

there seems to be a sort of, look down on ,view of poly tipped bullets for deer, why is this?. idont do too much stalking but i take about half a dozen each year all roe and this past year i have taken 7 with 7 head shots, all of them fell on the spot stone dead so poly seems to do the job 100%

Its not the poly tips causing the problem its the design that the bullet was intended for,

most deer hunting bullets look the same as ordinary poly heads but the core and jacket is made up differently to allow for the mushrooming effect,

heavy varmint bullets, have a softer core and thinner jacket to allow for rapid expansion on impact,

snap.
