tote 854
Rabbits for me either on the lamp or bolted by the ferrets. Mind you the dog does love a bit of variety. Quote Link to post

Meerihunter 7
It's a difficult question, singlehanded hare coursing is the most awesome test of a running dog, however there aren't that many hares around here that I could hunt them alone. There are loads of roe deer around here and it would be great to be able to hunt them within the law and not worry about being seen doing it, but I'd end up not going out after them in the long run as I'd end up taken too many and not having space for the meat. Foxes, I'm not overly bothered about them these days though I love that rush when calling a fox in or sitting out summer evenings. There was the time that fox was my main quarry. In fact my most memorable course/hunt was fox out at holy island. That leaves the humble rabbit, my main quarry. I love lamping and bolting rabbits with the ferrets but what really gets me going is hunting up with the pack through woods, whins, rushes and dunes for rabbits my day or moonlight. To be honest I can't pin myself to one over the over, I love to watch the dogs hunt up and best thing is not know what the dogs might catch round the bush. :thumbs-up: Edited January 7, 2007 by Meerihunter Quote Link to post

squirreltail 15
If you could only run one species with your lurchers, which would you hold above the others and why? Has to be the hare mate. The course was an excellent thing to watch, knowing how strong and cunning the hare runs, sorry jumps, it doesnt actually run,and it is, sorry was ,down to your dog alone and its strength and skill to catch the thing, and you can eat a hare what do you do with a fox? dont fancy cooking that up.
