I had a very similar problem with a McCulloch last year, intermittent spark, turned out to be the coil I think it was.Chap off another site who lives near me identified it and as it was so old/model could not get proper bits could modify a newer one but I think it was about £38.

Chucked it in the bin and bought a bow saw

yes f**k it off and buy a stihl  keep looking on ebay and any models that begin in "MS" are made in or after yr 2000 and will piss all over any mcculloch!!! the saying buy cheap, buy twice is never more correct than in chainsaws ive tried every make going and none have lasted a year but my stihls last forever the only problem ive had with them is the chain going blunt :thumbs:

change plug for new one

change fuel for new with deceent synthetic two stroke

take filter off in tank

take air filter off

check fuel pipes for leaks

try and start

heat end of spark plug with lighter

try again

if it wont start it will probaly be a carb problem or less likely coil

dont spend money on it, put the money you were going to spend on buying a sthil
