SeanTheHawker 0
Just a little update in rolf, the last few weeks i havent done any lamping due to being able to get out during the day. i have been out the usually 4 or 5 days a week. not the full 7 due to not having full control of the car  . but none the less he is doing well. he is now 3 kills of treble figures! of which 98% is rabbits lol. i know headcounting is frowned apun, but hey i like to keep tract in my hawking diary! his weight is also coming on well, hes flying well at around 1lb 6 wihtout leash and swivel, which is an ounce over what he started on. havent managed to bring the camera out recently, due to tryign to get some filming, not a hope in help lol, never works out right. anyhow, today me and my mate headed out with both cameras. spent the whole morning doing empty sets! not one single bolt. then we crossed the road. and as you do, came along a few active sets! amazing what a road does lol. anyway, first bolt came came from a lovely ground set, rolf secured it well a good about 30 yards not the set, not gonna lie and say a super flight, but a good start to the huntign day lol. next set was empty. then came across what yous to be a hedgrow, but now all cut down. with holes left in the open. the bank dropped a good 8ft. we knew if we had to dig it would be tough, but my mate had a bloody road workers spade with him, so we decided to do it. most of the holes are along the bank, with one or two on top of the bank. i was hoping they would bolt along the bank, with having the good 8ft height advantage. wasnt to be. a rabbit bolted then paused, and ran back into another hole. rolf clipped it just as it got down, and left with a tuff of fur. ferret came out a hwile late, and i quickly grbabed it, makign sure we didnt have to dig to the rabbit we had just seen. next set, also was on the bank, ferret down, and again a rabbit bolted from the top of the bank. didnt get 20 feet till rolf slapped on it, but didnt hold him, so got up and pumped like hell to catch the rabbit a good 100 yards further up the bank. lovely big buck rabbit it was too. at this stage it was only 1pm, but due to the lack of rabbits we decided to call it a day at that and quit while we were ahead. first pic is of me, rolf and the 2 rabbits of the day. second is rolf getting a good reward for the days effort. and the rest is of the land, ohh and of one of me searching for the ferret, dreadign we had a dig on our hands. out again tomorrow so will try and get some more pics. Fletcher 0
Sometimes I think I'm the unluckiest with weather, it can be cracking sunshine when I leave home, I get the bird out and it pisses down. Quote Link to post
