I will only be ferreting so not into the lamp but plenty of grown dogs are being injured and they know what they are doing. I think it would be better to give it some easy experience and give it time to mature. You're going to have the pup a long time so there's no rush. Best of luck whater you decide.

All my dogs have been started young and it's funny to hear off other so called dog men saying it can't be done, there are many if us lads who start dogs very young laughing our heads off at this topic. My first lurcher had his first at around 15-16 weeks now he's 10 and only just retired him start of this season
