what happen when your dog at 3 month car,nt catch at that age ,and gets frustrated and starts barking with frustration, seen it happen loads of times, why not wait untill is develompent, and let it be pup at 3 month the pup should be getting lite walks and nothing more ,but like you say ,you,ve done it ,but its not for me

Probably the same as it would if it was 6 months...........try again!

Does someone want to put up some photos of 12 week old pups, cos i might be wrong but when i think of a 12 week old pup i'm thinking of the age where they are still acting like babies and running into

just when you thought heard it all ,running a dog on the lamp at 3 months ,for fcuk sake get a grip ,i just car,nt amigine a 3 1/2 pup catching anything but a mouse

And how do you know if its going to be a short easy run? Do you make the rabbit promise it wont run to hard before you slip the pup?   Enter her right mate and you will have a dog you can be proud

you run your dog as early as 3 month and your dog will be lucky if it has 2 good seasons and thats including its first :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Few easy runs............not an 8 hour lamping trip on alternate slips with a collie x.Would you not start your ferreting lurcher that early?

would start any lurcher untill about between 8 months day time rabbits and then 10 months lamping ,running a lurcher at 3 months old is backward :censored:

Pro's and con's to everything fella.......people do it different but just because you don't it don't make it wrong

This has been said loads of times on here.........what if you're lad was boxing....would you let him spar until he was 16 then throw him in the ring

I'd stick him in the ring with a lad his size. I wouldnt stick him in the ring with a lad who knows how to fight. Same with the dog, i'd want it to meet its first rabbits in a slightly less unbalanced situation if i had a choice in the matter. Getting it out and experiancing is one thing but slipping it on the lamp at 12 weeks is a little early is it not? P.S Sunday?

We'll agree to disagree on this one then young fella :tongue2: Give you a bell

Naaaaaw we agree i'm just bored and fancied an argument. :tongue2:

like bird said, dont be stupid letting it lamp before 8-12months. seeing few ferreted netted bunnies do confidence good, and take mooching with other dogs that will be catching wont do harm as long dont walk to far. easiest way to wreck pup starting it to early and deliberately lamping it is mad.

You could do some serious damage to young developing joints/muscles/bones. Don't waste the dog, have patience.

before you give anyone advice make sure you know what you are talking about, spend 10 minutes and find out how far you are off the mark

I'm not arguing against taking a dog out mate and showing it a bit and letting it experiance the life, there is a lot to learn. I just meant i wouldnt go out for a nights lamping armed with a lamp and a 12 week old pup  How you feeling now mate, fully mended? All the best to you and the family for christmas

i wouldnt slip a dog if you paid me my dog workes lose

That's a nice looking dog you've got. I'm keeping mine on lead and she watches her mum work. I will only be ferreting so not into the lamp but plenty of grown dogs are being injured and they know what they are doing. I think it would be better to give it some easy experience and give it time to mature. You're going to have the pup a long time so there's no rush. Best of luck whater you decide.
