Ladder Trap

Hi lads I am going to be building a ladder trap on the syndicate I keeper on. The crows are hounding the feeders at the moment because of the snow on the ground. I Was thinking about aquiring 4 security fence panels for the basic square of the trap. Then constructing the ladder area on top. could i put a flat roof on top with the ladder up the middle or would it need to be the angled roof each side with the ladder in the centre ? Also what spacing between the sections on the ladder ? And lastly I keeper roughly 100 Acres for the lads but some is just permittion its not owned the land which is owned has 2 grass fields and the rest is rushes the permittion land is Pine trees which belongs to the landfill site. Where would be best to site the trap on the owned land ? in the field or in the rushes ?

the reason for the sloping inwards top, is to channel/guide/push the birds to the ladder area, having a flat top, they could simple sit there, without going near the ladder, ladder spacing is sometimes trial and error, so make it simple and adjustable, make sure the ends of the ladder are solid and not open, otherwise birds can climb the sides and get out

cant see any reason not to make it from things to hand, ie, wire fencing, as long as the shine dont put birds off, may need spraying?

Hi Stubby You seem quite knowledgeable on the ladder trap,looking to build my first,do you think I could build the sides with security panels as I have a few lying about.

If your trying for jackdaws it's a good idea to put a curtain of netting hanging down from each side of the ladder, about a foot or so, as they are good at hanging upside down and a few will escape without it.

 

can't make out from the photo if you have one on it or not.
