Memorable digs

Nice one Steve. I liked your story about telling the guy how to make his terrier more gritty when you guys had broke through to the game. :) I forgot who the guy was but remembered the story!

I was digging with Kenny Chambers years ago right after he had had open heart surgery. His dog entered a shallow den and was on a raccoon. kenny leaned over and said he could see the dog. He handed me the shovel and said to climb the fence and " dig right there". I stuck the shovel in the ground and it was so shallow I hit the coon in the ass which made it bolt right over the terrier and it climbed right up kenny. he was flailing and hollering trying to get this thing off of him and he entire time the dog is trying to climb him to get to the coon. of course I was laughing so hard I couldn't do anything at all to help him out.

that would of been nice to watch on a video i would of been no good to mate.

HA HA HA.. yeah this one involved KENNY also. We were hunting with a new guy named BRAD. Brad was one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting through the dogs. Anyway he had a dog that was really not that great of a dog. The dog was in working one time and we were all digging to the dog. we broke through at about 3-4 feet down and Brad was down in the hole trying to coax his dog on up to the critter ( I cannot remember if it was a coon or groundhog anymore) anyway , the dog was a couple feet back baying the critter and Brad was completely discouraged. Kenny leans over and tells Brad that if he wants to give his dog some courage and get him right up in the critters teeth to reach down and rub his balls and that would encourage him. Brad looks up at me serious as a heart attack and says "STEVE , HE AINT GOT NO BALLS".. to which I said " WELL REACH UP HERE AND RUB MINE AND i WILL TELL HIM HOW GOOD IT FELT!" Brad still cusses me over that when he sees me lol

Another time Kenny was hunting with a group of JRTCA people. a ladies dog was in and just doing a miserable job, runing all through the den barking and never really getting anything cornered. I guess they had dug several holes to try to get this sorted out when Kenny stands up and says ' HEY DOES ANYONE HERE HAVE A DOLLAR?" The owner of the dog says ' YEAH i HAVE A DOLLAR WHY?" kenny says ' WELL TOSS A DOLLAR IN THE HOLE AND COVER IT ALL UP, I AIN'T WASTING MY TIME BURYING NOTHING AND THAT DOG AINT WORTH NOTHING" .. The lady started bawling from what I hear ( told to me second hand0

last night  took 12 hours 8ft so not huggeeee , but i was challangeing numerous amount of feckin rocks , clay soil , and the dogs work the best i have ever seen them do so. but for me it was the company that made it memrable , you cant beat going digging with your best mate and mentor not to sound like a SAP , but going out on your own isnt the same ...
